In May of 1925, C.C. Mitchell and Lawrence Jones broke ground at the first ever co-op apartment complex in Philadelphia. The original thirty-eight acre Strawbridge Estate provided the setting for Alden Park Manor -- an unprecedented new community.

Original plans called for three separate groups of apartment buildings, each with its own magnificent lobby and distinct personality. Surrounding The Manor, Cambridge and Kenilworth complexes were formal gardens, an indoor/outdoor pool, tennis courts and a nine-hole golf course.

Alden Park was designed specifically for those who would not compromise quality or lifestyle, nor sacrifice convenience.

As it was then, it is now.

Winding roads lead you upward through the abundant greenery of Fairmount Park, past the stately homes and quiet streets of Wissahickon Valley.

There above you rise the majestic, rose-colored towers of Alden Park. Immediately you grasp a sense of the importance of Alden Park and an understanding of why such great care has been taken to preserve and renew this unique historical landmark.

The sweeping circular driveway, the distinctive twin gatehouses and the elegant wrought iron gate enclosing Alden Park are vivid reminders that this is indeed a private thirty-eight acre estate.

After parking your car -- indoors or out -- it's time to make your entrance. The concierge greets you politely, handing you the concert tickets you ordered the day before. As you step into a magnificent restored lobby -- unquestionably the greatest in Philadelphia -- your sense of arrival is complete. You have come home to Alden Park.
